With a Lick of Paint

I'm SO thrilled to be linking up with the lovely Sarah at Modern Country Style and her
Paint Please Link Party.
Thank you so much for the invite Sarah!

I LOVE paint!   Pouring over colour swatches - seeing before and after pictures of  rooms amazingly transformed - finding unloved pieces of furniture and bringing them to life.  Nothing gives me more joy.

Paint doesn't scare me - in fact, paint and I are friends!   There is not a week goes by that I haven't got some painting project on the go.  My daggy "house" clothes are splattered with reminders of former projects - oh look.....here's a blob of Antique White USA.....and what about this delightful Eye of Neut.....  oh yes, and how could I forget Friendly Sky.......

Just look at this sweet little cupboard  I found in my shed.  So sad (and green!)

But with a lick of paint..........

It is transformed into a thing of beauty!

And what about this handy little tool tote I crafted out of unloved pallet offcuts.

Plain and boring one minute ..........

Fabulous and sunflowery the next!

And talking of Sunflowers .......

One     canvas    +    paint    =

One piece of Original Artwork.

Yes, I LOVE paint!

Now fellow paint lovers -  I have a challenge for you......
 I'm looking for suggestions.

This is another "find" from my shed and it is looking even more sad than my cute little cupboard.
(Oh look at all those gorgeous paint splotches on the ground - is that Friendly Sky I see??

Anyway...... - this piece holds special memories for me.

You see........

28 years ago I sat on this very same rocking chair
and rocked my first born to sleep (many, MANY times...  Colicky baby - you know the story)

It is now in serious need of a makeover.

So - what about it?

To paint (or not to paint)?  Colour?

All suggestions gratefully appreciated - thank you.

Oh ..... and thank you Sarah for hosting this fabulous party......

Happy painting everyone!

  1. Some wonderful transformations, love the chicken wire cupboard and the tool tote, which you made! So clever.

I love all the detail on your rocking chair, maybe, white and rub in a little dark wax? Anyway I'm sure whatever you do it will look great and look forward to seeing the end result :) x

  2. I've commented before on some of the amazing things that you have created. Oh how I wish paint was my friend and that I wasn't afraid of it! I'm intrigued by what you will do with your lovely rocking chair. I found one recently and inspired by all this blog world talent purchased the thing for $10 with a view of giving it a make over. Needless to say it it is still in it's rather sad state with a couple of strategically placed books and cushions to cover the marks...I'll be reading with anticipation to see if I can highjack some tips too!

  3. Hello lovely!!!

Well, it looks to me as though you need no help at all!! You're a whizz at painting already!!

I love all the paint projects you share on your blog! And I just wish I had a shed like yours that produced GORGEOUS pieces for me to renovate!!!!

With your chair, I think a bit of dark wax rubbed on and then wiped off over a coat of clear wax would really pick up the details of the chair beautifully. Colour-wise, I'd stick to something fairly subdued to let the lovely chair do the talking. I think white might look a bit stark ...what about creamy-white...or gentle grey?

But I bet you do something completely perfect!

  5. Hello sweet friend!

I was over at Sarah's and saw that you were linking today and had to hop right over! I hope you are having a beautiful day! :)

I love your little cupboard, it looks amazing and you did such a wonderful job on it! And oh! Your sunflowers painting is outstanding~ you don't just paint, you can PAINT! I am so impressed! Also, that is so clever of you to make your own tool caddy~ it looks perfect! {Can you tell I meant it when I said I was impressed?} :)

About your sweet chair, you could paint it a soft grey or white, if you wanted to? Something soft and wistful maybe? But you are good at these things, and I know you are going to come up with something perfect for the chair! I can't wait to see what you do! :)

    Have a lovely weekend, Sharyre!

    Blessings,
    Jenni

  7. I just came over from modern country style to see your projects. I love them! The little tote is really great, I would make one but I do not have any wood laying around.

That little cupboard...is fabulous! Why did you have that in your barn when it was such a great treasure! And I wonder what other great items you have to paint up. Cannot wait to find t.

  9. Hello there, I just wanted to see if you ever
have had any trouble with hackers? My last blogspot blog at http://goldenvalley50.
blogspot.com/ was hacked and I wound up losing several months of
hard work due to no back up. Do you have any solutions to stop
I'm glad that I found your site %target_domain% and was able to read this article. I understand this is completely unrelated but I'm interested in creating my own
weblog and am curious as to what exactly is necessary to get set up?
I assume managing a blog like yours is a bit expensive?
I'm not particularly a guru about web page design so I'm not
quite sure how to proceed. I'd love to hear any thoughts, advice, or thoughts on the matter. Cheers By the way, is your theme custom designed or did you get a hold of it from someplace? A look such as your own with some quick modifications would finally make my website stand out. Tell me where you got your template when you get the time.

  11. Nice work, happy to have stumbled on this blog on blogs list.

This is the kind of resources that should be available online.
It'd be awesome to see material like this on web 2.0 site list. It's
a disgrace that the search engines aren't giving blogger.com a higher ranking. If you're interested,
please come and consult my web site. Kudos
