One Man's Junk.......

One man's junk.... is another woman's treasure.......

I'm constantly amazed at the things people throw out.

Take this solid timber outdoor setting.   It was destined for the local  rubbish tip when I spotted it.  Before the owner could change his mind - I quickly loaded it into the back of my ute and took off down the road - not even daring to look back in the rear view mirror.
(In actual fact - it took me FOREVER to load - it weighs a TON!

When I look at the solid timber chunks of timber and the rusting coach screws I can't help but wonder about the person who built this.   How long ago was it built?  Where did the timber come from?

I also think about the times and occasions when people would have sat around this table and the stories and good times they would have shared.   As a rub my hand over the rough timber backs of the chair I wonder what stories these chairs could tell.  If only they could talk.

I think that is the beauty of re-cycled/reclaimed furniture.  So much beauty and history.  Being able to preserve the memories of this old piece and create new ones - fills my heart with joy!

At this stage I'm not even sure what I am going to do with it.  Paint.... stain......or just let it bask in the glory of its natural raw beauty.

Maybe a few comfy cushions?   Hmm..... Not sure at this stage.

I'm just so pleased that I was able to rescue it from its fate.......

And give it a new home here in the Valley.

  6. Hi Sharyne
    Great table.

As for colours you mentioned on The Beach House The grey is a colourbond roof colour called Dune, the trim is Dulux Fair Bianca. A great combo.

    Thanks for visiting

  9. Wonderful find. I so wish my car wasn't tiny European sized sometimes (not when I park, though). I wouldn't have been able to fit that table in my car, maybe not even ON my car!!!
